About Sports Therapy & Me
I have been working as a Sports Therapist for 12 years now. My client base is made up of a wide range of people, men, women, very active, non active, mature & young. I treat people mainly from the Bedford area but some clients also travel from London & Milton Keynes.
Sports Therapy aims at getting you returned to YOUR pre-injury level of activity. This is very specific to each person. Treatments will often involve a consultation in order for me to get a specific understanding of what your level is. I studied Sports Therapy at the University of Luton for 3 years and graduated with a 2:1 honours degree. I was at my first work placement for three years, then four years ago, I branded my own business - Alleviate Sports Therapy and have never looked back!! I now have a wonderful treatment room at home.
I have always participated in sports and enjoyed an active lifestyle. The main sport I enjoy is Netball, of which I represented County Bedfordshire between the ages of 13-21 years. I now enjoy playing for a local side once a week. I also represented England between the ages of 15-18 years by playing Rounders (Yes we do have a national team! And yes it's just as unglamorous as it sounds!!) As I was growing up, sport was just a given, I enjoyed being active and getting involved!
It seems a little harder to fit it all in these days as I have a four year old daughter and son of 18 months. I do still enjoy a variety of netball, badminton, swimming, walking, yoga and working-out in the gym. Therefore, I understand how frustrating it is when you are held back due to an injury!
I consider myself very fortunate to have found a successful career within an area I am really passionate about!
